Checklist
Living Room
Remove all clutter including remote controls, tissue boxes and as many personal photos as possible. Floors should be clean and carpets vacuumed. If you have a large rug covering beautiful flooring, please remove it. Also hide all children’s toys and portable cots.
Kitchen & Dining Room
Wipe down counters and put all small appliances in cabinets. Remove magnets and photos from the fridge, hide sponges and soap dispensers. Don’t forget to remove items from the top of the fridge and hide all rugs. Set the table if possible. A bottle of wine with glasses is a nice touch too.
Bedrooms
Make all beds and organise children’s toys. All floors should be vacuumed and kept clean. Hide personal items, excessive photos, tissue boxes, remote controls, alarms and phone chargers. It is important these and other rooms feel comfortable and inviting. Make sure all lamps have bulbs and are plugged in.
Bathroom
Hide all toiletries, such as soap dispensers, toothbrushes and cosmetics, even items in the shower area. Remove throw rugs and wipe down counters. Have clean folded towels in their normal areas. Please clean any dirty areas that are visible and put away bathroom scales.
Outside
Make the lawn nice and presentable. A fresh cut lawn is not necessary. Roll up any hoses, and have all outdoor furniture set up (open umbrellas if its not too windy). Make sure bins are not visible, put them in the garage or bring them onto the street away from. the home.
Finally
Before the scheduled shoot time, make sure all the lights are on, blinds are open. If bulbs are out please replace them if you can. Remove all cars from the drive way and try and keep the front of the house clear.
Important tips
The utility room or garage makes for a great temporary hiding place for items that you need to quickly move out of sight before the shoot. If there is not enough room there please hide additional items in closets or under beds. Remove seasonal decorations if possible. Remember, anything that is in the room will be photographed, so remove anything of value that you don’t want to appear in the photo.
The Photographer will be happy to walk through the home with you before the shoot; however they only make light staging suggestions and micro adjustments. Moving items from room to room is not an option while the photographer is there; everything needs to be moved ahead of time. We would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to photograph your home, we look forward to you seeing the finished media.
